About SNYDE

Snyde was a Rock/Punk band formed in 2006 by two Guitarists, Gareth and Craig both aged 18 (at the time). Both were eager to play to people who appreciate rock as much as them.

Over time they progressed, started writing songs and after some auditions, they found a young Drummer, Tom aged 14 (at the time), who had been playing for 1 and a half years.

After relocating practice nights to the Jam Jar in Cradley Heath, they worked together to complete two songs. Finally after lots of advertising the band was approached by the one thing that they really needed, a first class bassist, Mart.

After the band was completed they continued to write songs and started working on a set list, including some cover songs like Teenage Kicks (The Undertones) and No Way Back (Foo Fighters).

The First Gig took place at the Boscobel in Tipton, and it was a success but it was decided not to do any more gigs until a larger set was in place.

The Biggest achievement for the band was making it to the Semi Finals of the first ever surface Unsigned Festival in Birmingham, the band was given very good reviews after every stage of the competition.

Unfortunately in 2007 Gareth decided to leave the band and with that the other members also decided to go there separate ways.

Review given by Stephen Hudyba (of the BBC):

One of the few bands who have got genuinely better and better as the festival has progressed; Snyde gave an even stronger performance than their convincing effort at the Med Bar but didn’t quite make it through.  Mixing elements of classic rock, alt-rock and punk it’s an exciting sound that really works and it’s a credit to their ability that they could put together such a strong set in the short seven months they have been together.  It should prove very interesting to see how these guys progress over the coming months.
